Purpose

Every human being on the face of the earth is searching for happiness, love, and their place in this world. They are searching for purpose and it is human nature to take hold of what the world has to offer in our search for purpose in life. We live by what we can see and touch and feel...the things that seem to make us happy and satisfy the emptiness in our lives. We ultimately find that a worldly perspective quickly turns our lives into a mere existence and a continual search in all the wrong places.

  King Solomon, in the Bible, is a great example of someone who lived by the worlds’ standards. He was not only the wisest man in the world but he had all the things that money could buy. In the book of Ecclesiastes, King Solomon wrote about his life, much of which was lived apart from God. In the 2nd Chapter, Solomon said he had “become greater than any man who lived in Jerusalem before him and he denied himself no pleasure”. But as he looked at everything he had accomplished, it was all meaningless. “Like chasing the wind,” he said. King Solomon began to understand that the things of this world are momentary. Many times we are like Solomon. We search for our purpose in what makes us feel good or satisfies us for the moment. Before we know it, we are chasing the wind.
To discover our purpose is to realize that our lives are not built on things which are momentary but rather on a relationship with One who gives us true purpose.

Purpose is available as 3 or 4 sessions, so it's great for either a Fri/Sat retreat, or a full DNow weekend!
